It’s rather disappointing, with all Sheriff Hutton’s illustrious royal and noble connections — Warwick the Kingmaker, Richard III, Henry Fitzroy — to find out that the actual ghost roaming the premises is “of a servant-girl named Nancy.” I might be willing to spring for a ruinous English estate for the chance of having my sleep disturbed by Richard Neville clanking around in armor or Wolsey bewailing his fall from favor, but not for a mere Nancy, no matter how touching her tale.
