How long will “The Tudors” go?

It looks like Showtime’s execs are planning to take it through to wives 5 and 6 in a fourth season, but it doesn’t sound like there are plans to go to the other monarchs. Too bad… they could have some fun in Edward VI’s and Mary I’s reigns, especially since those haven’t gotten a lot of play of late with Elizabeth getting most of the screen time. Although the Lady Jane Grey storyline would have to come from somewhere inventive since the Mary/Margaret story got changed so much in the first season.

  1. Since the writers didn’t want to confuse the audience with Mary, daughter of Henry, Mary, sister of Henry, and Margaret, sister of Henry who never went to Scotland…perhaps Lady Jane will suddenly appear as an illegitimate daughter of Henry!

In the world of ‘hys’terical fiction, it’s interesting how things turn out. Goodness, I feel so sorry for that King of Portugal! (wink)

  2. I suspect however that they would be hard pressed to find sufficient sex scenes in Edward’s and Mary’s reign to meet their script pattern. For Edward’s? Seymour and Katherine Parr? Seymour and Parr cutting Elizabeth’s clothes off? Hard to imagine a sex scene between Edward Seymour and Anne Stanhope as even vaguely interesting as long as the plot remained focussed on the person wearing the crown. If they branched out though to the leading courtiers, could be fun. Would love some fictional treatments of Margaret Douglas countess of Lennox, Mary’s leading lady-in-waiting and self-styled heir presumptive.
