Skyview: The Tudor Age

Thanks to Stephan for telling me about this!

If you have the Smithsonian Channel, they have an episode of their program “Skyview” called “The Tudor Age” with some stunning aerial imagery. I unfortunately don’t have an HDTV (yet), so I haven’t been able to watch the program (my cable company only has the HD version), but there are some clips on their website. I’ve embedded one below, but you can head over to the page for that episode to see more. A DVD of the show will be available in July.

If you’re a castle junkie like me, be sure to check out some of the other related videos!

  1. A friend of mine told me about this program and sent me a link to the Smithsonian channel site. You’d think I would get this channel — I live but a short subway ride awayfrom the Smithsonian! But I don’t, and I was disappointed that the public link they posted was only a few minutes long. I really hope this does come out in July. I’ll be first in line to order it.

BTW, in case anybody didn’t know, there is a series of dvds of aerial views of various countries (sorry, can’t recall the exact name at the moment, but I can look it up if there is any interest). I have dvds of England, southern France, Italy, and Greece. They are superb.

  2. Wow, what a cool video. The views were incredible! Thanks for the link–I’ll definitely have to check them out…I especially like the video of Bosworth….

  3. The PBS series is called “Visions of [country name]” and it is indeed outstanding. So far, they have “done” England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, and Greece. The DVDs are available from the PBS website for $24.99 each.

  4. PhD…you beat me to it! “Visions” is beautiful and well worth the price. When I get ‘homesick’ I pop in the England version and feel like I’m right there.
