Hard to believe we’re heading into the last two months of the year and holiday season! I say this all the time, but I really feel like this year is flying by.
Event
I wanted to put this up top since it’s happening in two weeks – The Royal Studies Journal is sponsoring a free, online 20-year retrospective on Showtime’s The Tudors on Saturday November 14. You can register through the Google form at this link and see the program here on Instagram.
How in the world has it been 20 years since The Tudors premiered??
Books
Henry VIII’s Quest for an Heir: The King’s Great Matter by Helene Harrison came out a month or so ago in the UK and will be out at the end of November in the US.
And Amy Licence’s Philip II: The King, the Man, the Marriages that I mentioned last month as coming out next year in the US looks like it also came out at the end of October along with its UK release, so I’m reposting it this month!
Continuing Exhibitions
Closing this month:
Peterborough Cathedral, the original burial place of Mary Queen of Scots, will have an exhibition about the queen that will run from September 15, 2026 to November 15, 2026. More information and ticket sales are available at this link.
Hever Castle is hosting a new exhibition, Capturing a Queen: The Image of Anne Boleyn which “brings together the largest ever gathering of portraits believed to depict Anne Boleyn, including a ground-breaking newly identified contemporary image unveiled for the first time.” The exhibition will run from February 11, 2026 to January 2, 2027 and is included with admission to the castle.
