If any of you subscribe to the newsletter of the National Archives (UK) you may have already seen this, but they mentioned in the most recent issue that they are offering a one month trial of the State Papers Online Part II. Just follow the link for instructions.
Hi Lara,
I’m a little confused about this. How do I access the papers for both Part 1 and Part II? Not trying to be obtuse but I’m not technically savvy. Is this something we pay for? Is it too late to get Part 1? Any chance we could request hard copies of all of this to be sent in?
Appreciate everything you do! Please feel free to email me privately so I can understand all this correctly, if you have a chance.
Thank you again,
Barbara
I think this free trial offer is only for Part II. All you have to do to request the free trial is to email emea.marketing@cengage.com and ask for it. They don’t have a plan in place yet for individuals to get a paid subscription, but perhaps this is a test to see how much interest there is. I haven’t requested the trial myself because I have access to it already through the university that I work for.
You may have to sign up for the National Archives newsletter first (it’s free), which you can do here: https://ionmx.com/FormServer/?F=E464F66D15899
Barbara –
This one month free trial offer is ONLY for Part II. When Part I first became available, they had a similar promotion. I emailed the address Lara quotes above asking for the trial mentioned in the National Archives eNewsletter and got access yesterday after about 5 hours. I spent some time browsing through the product to get comfortable with how it works yesterday afternoon. I’m going to try to spend some serious research time every day until the 1 month trial runs out on September 17.
I’m not sure they validated my email address against the National Archives email database but I used the same one just in case.
Not sure what you mean by hard copies….
