Philip Mould Ltd. is offering the above 18th century portrait of Anne Boleyn for sale. Click here or the picture for more information on the painting.
By the way, if you haven’t looked through the whole site, I recommend it. There are some other 16th century-related works for sale and be sure to check out the Image Library.
Tip of the Tudor flat cap to Roland for the news on the AB portrait!
The Corneille de Lyon portrait of James V is very fine; I hadn’t seen it before and it gives a very 3-dimensional view of the king, where you can see a clear resemblance around the eyes to his daughter Mary. His pallor and bright red hair suggest the non-beefy Tudor strain, like his cousin Elizabeth.
Also, Darnley’s portrait by Vanson is interesting, if it’s authentic … degenerate popeyed coxcomb all over.
The dark eyes in Anne’s portrait remind me of Elizabeth I’s 1546 painting by William Scrots, which stands to reason. Thanks for the information…
Your gorgeous website had me drooling! You should offer the Anne Boleyn for raffle! Then people (like me) on modest means but who love this type of portrature would be in with a chance of owning it! Really if the Cheltenham house at a modest 500k can have a bash then why not? I am a huge fan of Mr Mould by the way so no disrespect intended!!
Food for thought?
