(For those of you who might be new here, my job is in astronomy and I&#8217;m in Texas, so we&#8217;re the bullseye for the total solar eclipse coming up on the 8th.) And as exhausted as I&#8217;ve been for the past few months with all of the eclipse prep, I&#8217;m still really looking forward to it. (But I&#8217;m also ready for it to be over with!)<\/p>\n<p>Now, on to the April round-up!<\/p>\n<p><b>Books<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We have a number of books that have already been released in the UK that will be out in the US this month. <\/p>\n<p>First up is Conor Byrne&#8217;s <i>Lady Katherine Grey: A Dynastic Tragedy<\/i>, which came out last summer in the UK and will be released on April 9 in the US.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3TDdBOD\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Purchase at Amazon UK<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4aiut4u\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Purchase at Amazon US<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next is <i>Women&#8217;s Lives in the Tudor Era<\/i> by Amy McElroy, which came out in March in the UK and will be out at the end of April in the US.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/49hU7Vm\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Purchase at Amazon UK<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/49gSl7g\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Purchase at Amazon US<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And finally, <i>Kateryn Parr: Henry VIII&#8217;s Sixth Queen<\/i> by Laura Adkins also came out in March in the UK and will be out at the end of April in the US.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4cDaVJl\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Purchase at Amazon UK<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4aBeyhm\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Purchase at Amazon US<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In new books for April, <i>The Waiting Game: The Untold Story of the Women Who Served the Tudor Queens<\/i> by Nicola Clark will be out on April 25 in the UK, but I don&#8217;t have info for a US release yet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3xfwxLL\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Purchase at Amazon UK<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Events<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In just a few days, from when I post this! Stephan Edwards<\/a> will be giving a talk at the Society of Antiquaries in London entitled <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sal.org.uk\/event\/portrait-of-jane\/\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Searching for a Portrait of Jane Grey Dudley, England\u2019s \u2018Nine-Days Queen\u2019 of 1553<\/a><\/i> on April 4 at 1:00 p.m. (London time). The talk will be live streamed and archived on the Society&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@SocAntiquaries\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube channel<\/a>, where you can also find many past lectures.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Edwards will give a second talk that day on <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sal.org.uk\/event\/queen-janes-proclamation-of-accession-of-1553-and-gendering-of-the-english-monarchy\/\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Queen Jane\u2019s Proclamation of Accession of 1553 and Gendering of the English Monarchy<\/a><\/i> and you can see that talk as a live stream as well.
