Question about Tudors and homosexuality- Just out of curiosity, what were the Tudor attitudes in regards to homosexuals? I know the most important thing was procreating to ensure the throne, but still. Also, are there any documented cases of homosexuality as it relates to the monarchy, and if so, what was the punishment for this so-called "crime?" Some of those punishments are quite brutal!

Question from Sarah - Henry VIII's affair in 1534

I've seen some posts here on Henry VIII's mistresses. Does anyone konw any theories about who the 'very handsome young lady' he had an affair with in 1534 was? Apparently, Jane Boleyn was banished from court for scheming with Anne Boleyn to get rid of the mistresses. Apparently the lady was a supporter of Mary's and treated Anne Boleyn with disrespect. I've read about her in a couple of books about Anne Boleyn, but they've never specualted about which maid of honor she was. Any ideas?

I was wondering. Would things have been dramatically different if Henry VIII had had a bastard half-brother? If Henry VII had been unfaithful to Elizabeth of York and that dalliance resulted in a child, would the succesion have been altered to cut out Mary and Elizabeth? I know it was altered in the case of William the Conqueror who unseated Matilda. Plus, what did Mary Boleyn die of? It seems like she dies awfully young even for that period. What happened to the Boleyn's titles when Thomas Boleyn died? For Mary had her son, Henry Carey so there was a male to inherit, but knowing Henry he probably was spiteful enough to keep them.

i have a question about anne boleyn. im a complete history buff an i love learning about the turdors and their families. i also love learnign about history in other europea regions to. my questions is.... why ddint king henry VIII think when anne was said to have had relations with other men... i mean she waited many years to be with him and if she waited that long why would she jeaprodiz her life and her crown for another man? and why would she have relations with her brotheR?? this woman must have thoguh these people were crazy! she was beheaded because soem people did not like her! king henry must have loved her alot to annul his marriage with catherine of aragon and he has her killed when a rumor goes around about her commiting treason. and why wouldnt he think about his daughter elzabeth bearly 3 years old and having to grow up never knowing her mother?? one more thing....how come it was okay for the king to have affairs with her ladies and it not be treason!
but its not okay for the queen to have an affair and she get her head cut off?? i mean what were the laws ?? like i said i love history and im in 9th grade i just want to know some stuff!! thanks!

Question from Chad - Elizabeth Boleyn in Hester Chapman's bio of Anne Boleyn

Hello,

Recently I have come across a biography about Anne Boleyn by historian Hester Chapman. Though the book was written in 1974, I knew some of the information would be considered outdated but I thought nonetheless that it would be entertaining to read. When I read it information on the first page caught my eye. It was an account on Anne Boleyn's early childhood. It stated that Anne's Mother Elizabeth Howard Boleyn gave birth to the three Boleyn children and died of a fever in 1512. I knew this was inaccurate as recent history has found that Anne's mother lived until 1538 when she probably died from grief over her children's deaths.

The book further stated that Thomas Boleyn went on to marry another woman "whom history has found not to have recorded her name." Does anyone have any idea who this woman could be? I know Elizabeth Boleyn did not die in 1512, but why would it be assumed that she did? Modern history does eclipse many of the books information but I do not understand why it records Anne Boleyn's mother as dying during this age, and why is some unnamed stepmother taking the place that Lady Boleyn had in history? Is this stepmother a fictitious form of Tudor propaganda?

I'm a student journalist doing some research on King Henry VIII's hunting lodge which used to stand on Newington Green in Mildmay, Islington, London.
Local lore has it that he kept his mistresses at the hunting lodge. I'm trying to find out if this is true and whether either Boleyn sister was likely to have resided there.

I recently saw the newm movie based on Philipa Gregory's book The Other Boleyn Girl. I was wondering how accurate this film is and what general thoughts were? Also I was curious about the head piece that Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn wore. I'm referring to the one that is pointed at the top. Is there any significance of this or is it just a style of the period?
