Hello Fans, Is there any historical reference to Elizabeth I affair with the young Earl of Essex as protrayed in the HBO Miniseries.
Also didn't her intimacy with Robert Dudly end soon after her coronation and somewhat stabalization of her throne?

Essex was certainly a favourite, though (as always with Elizabeth) there's no evidence of an actual, physical affair.
Dudley was a life long favourite, spending only a few short periods out of Elizabeth's affections.
