Question from Megan - Tudors on holiday


Where did the tudors go on holiday?

Are you talking 'vacations', or where the Tudors spent the holidays...like Christmas? Hampton Court was used for the festive Christmas season, especially by Henry VIII. Greenwich was a favorite, too.

My guess would be that the progresses each monarch made around the countryside during the summer months would be considered vacations. There would have been a light-heartedness about getting 'away' from government business and staying with courtiers, although no Tudor monarch was far from the cares of state.
