ECCLESIASTICAL TITLES DURING TUDOR TIMES There are multiple dates associated with the start of a term in an ecclesiastical title, such as election, translation from another title, nomination or consecration. In the charts, I have usually gone with the date the title was provided or the date the person was nominated or elected to the position. In most cases I've used the earliest of these dates. The death date is not necessarily the date that the person left the office. See "notes" column for additional information if the person did not die in office. The majority of these dates were taken from The Handbook of British Chronology, 3rd edition, published by the Royal Historical Society and cross-checked with the online Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
