		<description>I took the opportunity to attend a &quot;Queen Elizabeth Banquet&quot; in Hatfield&#039;s Old Hall. Perhaps the company doesn&#039;t do these any more (it was in 1985!) and it was definitely a touristy-thing, but it was such fun. Especially as Queen Elizabeth was our hostess.

Seeing the only original portion of Hatfield was great. Never did get to see the &#039;new&#039; place, the one that Robert Cecil made over. He wasn&#039;t a Tudor  :)

Thanks for the pictures and for springing to mind a happy memory.</description>

		<description>It&#039;s a shame that the photo does not show the lovely restored sunken garden in front of the building. The current Marchioness of Salisbury spent a small fortune in reproducing the garden as it is believed to have appeared in Elizabeth&#039;s day.</description>
